About me
As a teenager I had my first telescope experience, and I was in awe when I saw Saturn for the first time. That point in the sky was a planet, and I could see its rings and moons with my own eyes! For me, that was it! I would become an astronomer.
It was during my PhD program that I discovered my passion for bringing people closer to science, especially astronomy. Since then, I have dedicated my professional life to science communication.
I am always open to exploring new projects and collaborations that aim to make science more equitable and accessible for everyone. Do you have something in mind? Let’s talk!
Education
2011 - 2015
Max Planck Institute for Astronomy / University of Heidelberg
PhD in Astronomy
Under the supervision of Fabian Walter, I studied molecular clouds in nearby galaxies using interferometric and single dish observations. You can access my PhD thesis here.
I graduated magna cum laude.
2009 - 2011
Institute of Astronomy - UNAM
Master's Degree in Astronomy
I graduated by general examinations and obtained the Paris Pishmish prize for the highest grade in 2011.
2002 - 2008
Faculty of Sciences - UNAM
Bachelor's Degree in Physics
I graduated with a thesis in astronomy and was awarded the prize for the best thesis in astronomy by the Institute of Astronomy in 2008.
During my studies I received a scholarship for a semester exchange at the University of Copenhagen in 2005.
Professional experience
2021 - present

University of Vienna
Science Communication Coordinator
I coordinate and carry out various science communication projects, including the "Astronomy to Go" mobile planetarium, guided observatory tours, public lectures, and science fairs.
2021-2023
Institute of Astrophysics
University of Vienna
Director of Studies for Bachelor's and Master's Programs
I managed both programs, including communication with professors and students. I coordinated a curricular working group to update the programs, and the resulting study plans have been in effect since the winter 2023 semester.
